Rockstar Makita Suzuki Sweeps Second Auto Club Speedway Superbike Race -Again!

Sunday, April 27, 2008

Rockstar Makita Suzuki Factory Racing dominated the Suzuki-sponsored double-header AMA Superbike weekend at Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, California, by sweeping the AMA Superbike podium on Saturday’s and Sunday’s races. Just like in Saturday’s race, defending AMA Superbike Champion Ben Spies took the win on Sunday and was followed home by Rockstar Makita Suzuki teammates Mat Mladin in second and Tommy Hayden in third. Six-time AMA Superbike Champion Mladin actually led most of the laps in Sunday’s race but Spies passed him on the last lap as the two crossed the start-finish line to get the win. Hayden got a better start in Sunday’s race, and worked his way into third position to take the final spot on the podium. This is the third-consecutive...

Jake Holden and All-New CBR1000RR win AMA Superstock race in Fontana!!

AMA Superstock Series
Round 3: Fontana, California
Auto Club Speedway
April 27, 2008

It’s been a long time coming, but the wait’s been worth it. And the results also show just how hot Honda’s new CBR1000RR is. Corona Extra Honda's Jake Holden won the AMA Superstock race at Fontana on Sunday, the first win for Honda since the class started using 1000cc machinery.

Superstock is arguably the best head-to-head measure of stock 1000cc bikes, and Holden showed that the Honda CBR1000RR is one of the best. The race was hard-fought, with Holden starting in fifth and working his way up, lap after lap, until he took over the lead on lap 14 of the 16-lap event.

About the last-lap action, Holden said, "I put my head down. I made a couple of mistakes...

RAMON PODIUMS IN GERMAN MASTERS MX DEBUT 14/4/2008

Team Suzuki Press Office - April 14.

Team Teka Suzuki's Steve Ramon raced to a podium position in his debut appearance in the German ADAC MX Masters at Furstlich Drehna at the weekend on his factory Suzuki RM-Z450.

Due to race in selected rounds of the German international series throughout the 2008 season, the reigning World and Belgian MX1 champion gated well in moto one and led the race until Hungarian rider Kornel Nemeth charged into the lead for a couple of laps during the middle section of the 35-minute plus two lap moto. Able to regroup and refocus, Ramon then re-passed Nemeth and continued to hold him at bay, finally winning the race by 0.86 of a second.

Moto two didn't start so well for Ramon as a crash left him at the back of the pack with...

Chad Johnson Arenacross Champion 2008!

Arenacross

Ladies and gentlemen, you have your first Honda champion of the year: Chad Johnson has just won the 2007 AMA Arenacross title on his Honda CRF250R.

The Arenacross series actually started at the end of 2007 last year and ran throughout the winter. Going into the final event last weekend in Green Bay, Wisconsin, the Bad Boy/TUF/Honda rider had a healthy lead in the season’s points, including seven overall event victories. Still, racing is racing, and the championship came down all the way to the series closer. Johnson didn’t need to win, and he rode smart.

“It’s hard to put into words how great I feel right now,” said Johnson. “All the hard work over the summer to prepare for this year paid off. And the last-minute deal Dave Antolak put...

April 6, 2008

World Superbike and World Supersport 2008
Round 03 Valencia – Spain

Carlos Checa (Hannspree Ten Kate Honda CBR1000RR) endured first race agony and second race relief at his home round, falling in race one before remounting to finish fifth, and then scoring a strong third in the second 23-lap race. He was the top Honda scorer of the day and in the championship overall, and now sits in fourth place on 72 points, tied with Troy Corser.

In the first race Checa had to fight his way through from a bad start and a combination of his sheer speed and the effect of several crashes in front put him into the podium places. He was second with ten laps to go, and ate into the lead of Max Neukirchner to put himself in his slipstream...

Dallas Supercross 2008

AMA Supercross Series
Round 13: Dallas, Texas
April 5, 2008

The Dallas Supercross once again was the scene of some fine racing, but some of the most exciting competition is shaping up not at a single race but at the finish line of the entire series. The fight for third in the championship is down to a single point separating two Honda riders. And will Trey Canard win the Lites championship in his rookie year? Dallas moved the answer one race closer.

In the first heat of the night in the Supercross class, Andrew Short on the Honda Red Bull Racing CRF®450R finished fourth. Heat two had some pretty heavy talent, with Honda Torco Racing Fuels’ Kevin Windham, Honda Red Bull Racing’s Davi Millsaps, and Chad Reed all in the same heat—Windham won, and Millsaps...

2007 AMA Formula Xtreme Series Josh Hayes Formula Xtreme Champion!

Ladies and gentlemen, meet the 2007 AMA Formula Xtreme series Champion: Erion Honda’s Josh Hayes and his CBR600RR. Hayes scored his seventh FX win in nine starts, locking up his second-straight Honda-powered FX title at Road Atlanta with a full race still to run in the season.

After he took the pole in qualifying, Hayes would have won the FX title if he had simply placed 20th or better. But that’s just not the way Hayes rolls—he shows up at a track to race for a win, and that’s what he did in Atlanta, giving the spectators their money’s worth.

The race was stopped once with a red flag, and Hayes’ Erion Racing teammate Aaron Gobert fell on the warm-up lap and was unable to race due to a couple of badly swollen ankles (he says he’ll be good for Laguna,...

All-New GSX650F from Suzuki wins big from Motorcycle Consumer News United Kingdom

From MCN April, 2008...

MCN overall verdict
Suzuki's new budget and novice-friendly GSXF650F all-rounder proves that sometimes, brilliance is found in the most unlikely places. Although on face value merely a Bandit with a fairing the GSX650F's blend of real world performance, practicality, fun factor and value is pretty much unmatched anywhere.

Owners' rating

The Suzuki GSX650F's 16-valve, dohc four was all-new in the 2007 650 Bandit, is Euro3 clean, slick and responsive and, most pertinently, tuned for real-world versatility but with an exhilarating top end rush. Fuelling mods means it revs a little higher than the Bandit, although performance is unchanged. Peak power of 85bhp spread progressively over the rev range...
